In conjunction with Eureka Springs’ fourth entry in the national America in Bloom (AIB) competition, the community is invited to take part in a local garden contest. Registry application is available at the Greater Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce. Deadline for entering the competition is April 30. Judging will be May 14-16. There will be first, second and third place winners in eight categories. Only one entry per address.
AIB is a friendly nationwide beautification contest that encourages personal & community involvement and educational programs. Competition is with cities in same population category. The goal of the contest is to improve the visual appeal of America’s neighborhoods, parks, open spaces and streets. The contest encourages involvement and coordinated action by citizens of all ages, municipal governments, local organizations and businesses. In 2006 Eureka Springs won its population category and looks forward to competing this year.
Two AIB Judges arrive on May 21 and depart on May 24. They will rank entries in eight categories: floral displays, tidiness, landscaped areas, urban forestry, heritage, community involvement, turf and groundcovers, and environmental effort.
